Travel Info

Dresden can be reached by all means of transportation. The Campus of the TU is located at the south slope of the Elbe valley at both sides of the federal highway B170 leading to Prague, a 15 minutes walk from the central station; see map of Dresden. The Institute of Numerical Mathematics is located in the C-wing of the »Willers-Bau« just east of the canteen »Bergstraße«; see campus map.

• Travelling by Plane
  Dresden Airport is situated at the northern outskirts of the city, about 15 km from from the city centre. To get to the university
  • take a taxi (about 15 km, 30-40 minutes) or
  • use the urban railway (»S-Bahn«), access at the lowest level of airport building. Line S2 operates half hourly. A 25 minutes ride brings you to Dresden central station; from there, see »Travelling by Train«.
• Travelling by Train
  Dresden central station is at the main railway line from Hamburg/Berlin to Prag/Vienna with regular services to these cities and to Frankfurt and Leipzig. Upon arrival,
  • take a taxi (5 minutes)
  • go by bus:
    • The bus stop »Am Hauptbahnhof« is east of the station building under the railway bridges. Take busses 72 (destination »Coschütz«) or 76 (destination »Mockritz«). Get off the bus at the third stop »Mommsenstraße«.
    • Cross the road a the traffic lights, walk down the road to the footbridge. Turn right. After 100 m you will get to the »Willers-Bau«, see local map.
  • walk (about 15 minutes)
    • Leaving the station through the south exit, cross the road and follow the »Fritz-Löffler-Straße« southwards. (Link zu Stadtplan?) Walking past the Russian church, turn left onto »Bergstraße«. After another 150 m you get to a major junction (»Fritz-Förster-Platz«).
    • Staying on the »Bergstraße«, cross the junction. Get on the left side of the road and walk to the footbridge. Turn left at the footbride. The »Willers-Bau« is about 100m away, see local map.
• Travelling by Car
  Dresden can be reached by car via motorway A4 (Autobahn A4) and federal road B170/E55 (from south).
  • At interchange »Dresden-West« turn onto motorway A17 towards Pirna, Prague (Prag). After 12.4 km get off the motoway at exit »Dresden-Südvorstadt«
  • Follow the exit for 310m. Turn left onto federal road B170/E55 »Innsbrucker Straße« (heading north towards Dresden). Follow the main road (»Innsbrucker Straße« and »Bergstraße«). After 2,8 km (30 m after the »Suzuki« dealer on the left hand side of the road) turn right onto »Zeunerstraße«.
  • Try to find a parking space here or in the neighbouring lanes. From here it is short walk to the »Willers-Bau«, see campus map.
  From the city centre:
  • Drive south past the central station. Follow the federal road B170/E55 southwards (»Fritz-Löffler-Straße«, at the Russian church turn left onto »Bergstraße«).
  • Passing »Fritz-Foerster-Platz« (see campus map) stay in the left lane.
  • After 200m, at the first traffic light after the footbridge, turn left onto »Häckelstraße«.
  • Try to find a parking space here or in the neighbouring lanes. From here it is short walk to the »Willers-Bau«, see campus map.
  Unfortunately, there are no public parking lots on campus. Further parking is available north of »Zellescher Weg« near St. Lukas church (» Einstein Straße« and »Lukasplatz«), see campus map.
