On the global convergence of a singularly perturbed parabolic problem of reaction diffusion type with a discontinuous initial condition

Singularly perturbed reaction-diffusion parabolic problems with nonsmooth initial conditions are studied. Interior layers are generated from a discontinuous initial condition. Numerical results suggest that global convergence is achievable for the problem with a discontinuous initial condition using a fitted operator method defined on a piecewiseuniform Shishkin mesh.
